The International Journal of Trends in OncoScience (IJTOS) adheres to the principles set forth by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) concerning the ethical and responsible use of artificial intelligence (AI) in academic publishing.
AI tools may be utilized only to assist in manuscript preparation and must not substitute for human authorship, scientific reasoning, or ethical accountability.
AI systems are not eligible for authorship. Only individuals who fulfill the journal’s authorship requirements should be listed as authors. All listed authors bear complete responsibility for the accuracy, originality, integrity, and ethical standards of the manuscript, including any portions developed with AI assistance.
AI tools may be employed for the following purposes:
• Enhancing language quality and correcting grammar
• Improving clarity and overall readability
• Assisting with formatting and structural organization
Such usage must not change the scientific content, interpretation, or conclusions of the manuscript.
The use of AI tools is not allowed for:
• Creating original research data or generating results
• Fabricating, manipulating, or falsifying data, images, or analyses
• Writing complete manuscripts without meaningful human intellectual input
• Substituting critical scientific analysis or interpretation
Any misuse of AI will be treated as a form of research misconduct.
In alignment with COPE and ICMJE recommendations, authors are required to clearly disclose any use of AI tools within their manuscript. Failure to disclose significant AI involvement may result in rejection, correction, or retraction of the article.
Editors and reviewers may use AI tools in a limited capacity, such as for language assistance or plagiarism detection. However, all editorial decisions and peer-review evaluations must be carried out solely by qualified human experts. Confidential manuscript information must not be shared with unsecured AI platforms.
